First of all, John Pratt Jr. is closely associated with John Sr. by details of the Bedford County Personal Property Tax Lists--common listing dates and a likely transfer of property to John Jr. in 1792. Stephen was surety for John Jr.'s marriage bond, 7 September 1792, for John's marriage to Polly Hale. John Jr. and Abednigo Hale both disappear from the Personal Property Tax Lists after 1792. Then, see Franklin County, Virginia, Chancery Case 1834-025, Stephen Smith v Heirs of Guy Smith, filed 1802. Among the findings here are that Abednigo Hale was the husband of Guy Smith's daughter Joannah, Guy's 1781 will specifically mentions granddaughter "Mary" Hale, and that Abednigo Hale and John Pratt were both living in Washington County, Tennessee as of 1805.
