Amos Pratt was born in Warsaw, Genesee Co., NY in 1821, and came from there to Pike, Wyoming Co., NY in March, 1852, and the following year located on his present farm. His father was Thomas Pratt, of English descent, who was born in Foster, R.I. in 1780. Early in life he removed to Bolton, Washington Co.,NY; thence, in 1805, to Warsaw, Genesee Co., NY, where he died Dec. 29th, 1830. He married Hannah Perkins who was born in Hampshire,MA, in 1782, and died in 1855. The following are the names of their children: Charles Pratt (died in 1878), Amasa Pratt (in Minnesota), Randall Pratt (in Warsaw,NY), Jedediah Pratt (died in 1826), Milo Pratt (died in 1878), Job Pratt and Joel Pratt (in Omaha), Thomas Pratt (in Eagle), Hannah Pratt (in Hinsdale,Cattaraugus Co.,NY), Maria Pratt (in Ohio), Catherine Pratt (died in 1878), and Amos Pratt mentioned above. He was married in April, 1848, to Joanna Perkins, daughter of Elisha Perkins, a descendant of the Puritans and long a resident and prominent farmer in Persia, Cattaraugus Co.,NY, where he died in 1843. He has in his possession a Bible printed in England in 1785.
