Gregory,
I believe you may be referring to Benjamin Franklin Prather, of Columbia County. His wife was Ann Elizabeth. Her maiden name escapes me at the moment, but I have all that information in my notes. Benjamin F. Prather was enlisted during the Civil War and served as Chaplain for his company. He died at a Confederate hospital near Burkittsville,Maryland. Recently, his personal devotional booklet was discovered by the reverend of the church that housed the Confederate hospital. Along with the devotional booklet, he found Benjamin Prather's last letter home to his wife and children. Unfortunately, it never made it out of Maryland as his caretakers weren't able to get it past Union forces. I have a transcription of the letter and would be more than happy to share it with you. I won't give away the details, but the people he met and experiences he describes are absolutely mind-blowing. I do have information on Benjamin's parents, spouse and children.
I am a descendant of the Prather family by way of Daniel Prather (b.1810), uncle of your Benjamin Prather.
