Thanks Gary. I already know my Robert Patrick was born 1764 in VA, son of Hugh and Susannah (Harris?) Patrick. Hugh was born 1730 in VA and was in the Rev War. I know that Robert first married Betsy McMullen , had a couple of children in TN and went to Floyd Count KY where he had many more children, including my Fighting Jack 1818. I was all set with this information until a divorce paper was found. In it Betsy said she and Robert had 7 children and my Jack was listed as #8! The people in Magoffin county are now saying Jack belongs to Nancy Prater, who had married an Allen and was a widow when she and my Robert married, I think 1830-32, I'd have to look up the date... She was a Prater by birth. I have seen some of the Prater marriages you listed. Robert and Nancy had a daughter, Rhoda, before moving to Madison county ARK, where they lived and died in "Patrick, ARK. A lot of our KY families went with Robert and then some of them went on to Williamson county, TX. The divorce papers said Robert was living with another woman at the time Betsy filed for a divorce. They seem now to think that woman was Nancy. With Jack born 1818 and them marrying about 1830, I find it hard to believe they would have had all those other children, not marry, but get married before Rhoda was born. I was born back there and even tho I was young when I left, I know everybody knew everybody else's business. My mother was a Howard by blood , everyone knew it even tho she has a Collins birth certificate. I can't believe that no one has heard rumors past down on this one. This is my paternal line and very important me. I hope some one knows something. Ellie Patrick, (I divorced a Cole and took back my maiden name.)PS- If I am a Prater, I'd love to know it. They have a good reputation and I would be proud. It just drives me crazy not knowing. Do you know any other Praters who might have a clue?
