There does not seem to be any Poynter/Pointer males doing Y=dna testing. I have been able to open up an entire line of research due to my brother having Y-dna testing done on our family surname. My grandmother was a Poynter from Hart County, Kentucky. The test is quite easy (a mouth swab) and private. If we could get enough males with the Poynter surname to do the testing, we might be able to confirm relationships further back, and get rid of some of the speculation. Unfortunately, females of the line can not do the testing. Y-dna is only in the males of the line, and changes very slowly over generations. It is for that reason that this testing is being used so often now. If you are a male with the Poynter surname, or have a brother or male cousin, etc, with the Poynter surname, please consider getting tested. Thanks Judy Schwank
