Charles,
The location of the Poyner family cemetery being in Gratis twp., of Preble Co., OH gives much insight to a lot of my
Mills / Driver family information from the Brown's Run area
of Madison twp., Butler Co., OH. Both the Mills's and Driver's were in Butler Co before Preble Co., was created.
I have the Driver history back to James Driver of 1740 who settled in PA. This James Driver was the father of the John Driver - b: ca 1756 who married Sarah unknown who migrated to Butler Co., OH and possibly died there in 1816. Therefore, it looks like the Chattel Deed from John Driver would be from John Driver Jr - b: 1781 in PA who married Catherine Sample and who moved from Butler Co., OH to Randolph Co., Indiana in 1820. Morgan Mills was married to this John and Catherine (Sample) Driver's daughter, Rebecca Jane Driver in ca 1812 in Preble Co., OH - I have this Mills family history back to 1757 Maryland and PA.The "other" John Driver mentioned with Morgan Mills as receiving this Driver property - may be my gr gr gr grandfather who married my gr gr gr grandmother Abigail Mills - in Montgomery Co., OH on Sept 1,1825 by Elder Peter Poyner. It's possible that my Abigail Mills was a sister to Morgan Mills mentioned in the Deed and I am trying to prove that. Mine is a complicated Mills / Driver connection as I seem to be connected at least two ways to the families mentioned above.
I will definatly need to get ahold of a copy of the Chattel Deed.
Again Charles, you have provided me with very important information to aid my family research. You may be interested to know that the Michael McGuire of Gratis twp., Preble Co., in 1820, that you have helped me with in previous queries - had two children who married to two children belonging to John and Catherine (Sample) Driver - ater all these families moved to Randolph Co., Indiana
ca 1820. Maybe some day I will get all the records needed to pull all this circumstantial evidence together.
Thank you again for your help - I am so grateful for your continued interest and work on my behalf.
Bless You -
Judy Mills Boie - Minnesota
