Looks like my brother Mike didn't reply to your post of 4 years ago! Sadly Mike is no longer with us - he died in November 2003, so I'll take up the baton ...
Our grandfather was Francis Thomas Poyner - although always known as Tom - and worked as a jewel setter, latterly in Vine Street in the Jewellery Quarter in Birmingham. His father was also in the business, and as there is something of a trend of handing down father's christian name to the son as a middle name, guess that his father was called Thomas - we may have the same great-grandfather! Grandad died in approx. 1976-77, but his wife Ivy (Nanny to me) is still alive at 103, although not in the best of health.
My father went to Moseley Grammar School and I think the family originally come from Ombersley in Worcestershire. Will check the dates you mention with my father (Geoffrey Thomas Poyner) and get back. BR, David.
