Sorry for the confusion. There are two Robert Poyners. The first is my great great grandfather Robert L. Poyner. He was born about 1850 in Tennessee (Obion County). He married Caldonia Pond who was born in 1850 in McNairy Co., Tennessee. They lived in Randolph County in the Northeastern corner of Arkansas. They had a daughter named Izorahly Miranda Poyner. This much is known for fact.
Now for the speculation. A James Poyner was born in 1825 and lived in Tennessee, he was the son of Robert Poyner born in 1803 in Humphreys County, Tennessee. James married Miranda Crowder. James and Miranda are the right age and in the right vicinity to be the parents of Robert born about 1850. James could have named his son for his father Robert and his son Robert may have named his daughter Miranda in honor of his mother. It is unproven but it fits. Like I said, if Robert Poyner of Arkansas is not the son of James and Miranda of Tennessee, they must be closely related somehow.
Not exactly solid genealogical evidence but I work in the legal and investigative field and am trained to draw inferences from circumstantial evidence. I may be wrong but my gut says it makes sense.
