I am trying to find out the origins of Conrad Pile, born 1766, who spent most of his later years in Fentress County, TN. The traditional history passed down in my family says that he came from Germany, and simplified his name to Pile later. Other research connects from Nicholas Pyle (1624, England) to Nicholas (1666)to John (1693) to Conrad, with no mention of Germany or Poyle.
