Hello Powers family researchers... A recent 37-marker DNA test result has placed my line seemingly in the middle of the descendants of Walter and Triall Sheppard. My family line that was tested is not surnamed Powers, but is the result of a liaison with a Powers male and an unwed female of my tested surname line, producing a male born 1805 in Laurens Co SC. The female was b ca 1784 in Laurens Co. My quick research of the Powers family reveals at least two "senior" Powers lines in Laurens Co area ca 1800 - a John Powers who md 2nd Sarah Wooddall, and a William Powers likely John's brother. There was also a Joseph Powers, Nathaniel Powers, Holloway Powers, and Samuel Powers listed on the 1800 Laurens census. These DNA results would seem to be significant for Powers researchers, because it indicates that at least one of the Powers lines of Laurens Co SC links genetically back to Walter and Triall. I would of course like any feedback on these above mentioned Powers lines that may have lived near Reedy River and/or Rayburns Creek area in Laurens ca 1804-1805. For your information, the 37 marker results of my family line match exactly to the marker results of your Powers Project testee code 8FBTZ, with the two lone exceptions of a '16' at marker #570, and a '17' at marker #458 in my line. Even the very rare markers 464e and 464f of '17' and '17' are present in my line. Thanks for any comments or help. Notify Administrator about this message?
