According to my research, Leven Powell had a sister named Elizabeth. I don't have a birthdate for her except for a notation which says "unmarried in 1787". The name Elizabeth is par for the course in our particular family....BUT....there are many family lines with the same exact names of people who were born about the same time. It is often hard to pin down which family a certain person belongs with. For example, there were 5 people named Leven Powell in the Virginia military during the Rev. War. 4 of them were Lt. Col. and one was a Lt. I can identify my ancestor only by a record of a KY landgrant which was issued in his name. There may be a number of Elizabeths. Don't neglect to follow up on each one until you feel confident that you have the correct one, May I suggest you check out the Silas Emmett Lucas "Powell Family in America", Bishop Mead's "Old chuches and families of Virginia" and Ben Holtzclaw's "Descendents of Nausau-Seigen" All three of these books will give you some indexing of the Powell family and others we are related to in the colonial period. The same authors may have written other books and treatises, so follow up on that as [email protected]
