William Powell m1 Catherine Mason

She was a daughter of Gideon Mason [b. Nov 20, 1779 d. Jan 27, 1849] & Hannah [d. after Jan 27, 1849]. From Gideonís will, Catherine died before 1849, assume in childbirth with her 7th child. There are only 6 children on 1840 census for William Powell in Sunbury, Monroe County OH, where Catherineís father was also living in 1840. According to this 1840 census, their oldest children were born between 1825-1830, so my guess is they were married close to the 1830 date, judging by William Powellís DOB.

Children of William Powell b. 1809 and Catherine Mason:

1. Oldest son Powell b. 1825-1830 [1840 census] ?? name
2. Oldest dau Powell b. 1825-1830 [1840 census] ?? name
3. Aaron C. Powell b. abt 1835-6 [1850, 1860 census]
4. Elizabeth J. Powell       b. abt 1833 [1850 census]
5. Theodosia Powell        b. abt 1838 [1850 census]
6. Archibald M.C. Powell b. abt 1840 [1850, 1860 census]
7. Thomas ??B/C Powell       b. abt 1842-44 [1850, 1860 census]
My contention is that his mother Catherine died in childbirth with him.

William Powell m2 Rebecca Gray, daughter of Thomas Gray and Theodosia Huff. [?Married between 1842-1845] Note that Rebeccaís brother Alfred Gray married Williamís sister Rachel M. Powell. Also, same book [1880] cited above says that William and Rebecca were living in Missouri??

Children of William Powell and 2nd wife Rebecca Gray:

8. Mary A. Powell        b. abt 1846 [1850, 1860 census]
9. Joseph Henry Powell       b. abt 1848 [1850,1860 census]
10. Jacob Lewis Powell       b. abt 1854 [1860 census]
11. Carra ?E Powell        b. abt 1858 [1860 census] her name is hard to make out
