Thank you, Temple. I will request David Underdown's book from my public library. This book is still in print according to Amazon - & I expect to enjoy reading it, especially as the 17th century Pouncey family of Dorchester (Dorset)was "hard drinking and rebellious" and opposed the Puritans.
