       Bob Moore

       Ransdell Poulter, born 10 March 1801, near Bohon, Ky., on a fork of Thompson's Creek, died 23 March 1888 in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he is buried in the Crown Hill cemetery. At Harrodsburg on 13 November 1823 in Mercer Co. he was married by the Rev. Jesse Head to Elizabeth Gritton, daughter of Jesse Gritton, an early Kentucky pioneer. She was born on 3 March 1805 in Mercer County and died at Mooresville, Indiana in May 1873.
       The following are the children of Ransdell Poulter and Elizabeth Gritton, apparently all born near Bohon except Joseph, who was born at Terre Haute, Indiana.
1.       Sarah Ann Poulter, b. 13 Sept. 1824, d. 1 Aug. 1915, near Bohon, m. 9 June 1844, Mercer Co., Ky., Stephen Anderson, b. 14 Dec. 1816, Garrard Co., Ky., d. 13 May 1904, near Bohon.
2.       Harvey G. Poulter, b. 15 Dec. 1825 on Thompson's Creek, near Bohon, d. 20 June 1907, near Alvan, Vermilion Co., Ill, age 81, m. Amanda Swisher, b. 12 Oct. 1837, Blount, near Danville, Vermilion Co., Ill. The child appears in the 1860 census of Vermilion Co. His brother Henry is living with them at that time.

3.       John C. Poulter, b. 7 Feb. 1827, d. ca. 1867, Mooresville, Ind., m. Martha Liester.
4.       Susan Poulter, b. 30 March 1828, m. _____ Jones. Both d. in Indianapolis, Ind.
5.       JOSEPH POULTER, b. 10 Aug. 1829, Terre Haute, Vigo Co., Ind., d. 13 Nov. 1895, Indianapolis, Ind., m. 1854, Brown Co., Ind. and div., Harriet Stewart, b. 8 July 1833, d. 23 Dec. 1897. He is said to have been a Methodist minister. Harriet m. (2) 5 Feb. 1879, Brown Co., Ind. and div. 1882, John A. Parsley. IF HE IS THE ONE, THEN HE MUST HAVE DIVORCED AGAIN. IF NOT, THEN ASK ME AGAIN. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEA OF HIS AGE?
6.       Jesse S. Poulter, b. 23 Oct. 1831, d. 1854.
7.       Merritt Poulter, b. 14 May 1834, d. 1856.
8.       Nancy Jane Poulter, b. 12 March 1836, m. (1) 1860, Jeremiah Long, b. 1831, Ohio, (2) July 1871, Murphy [also referred to as George] Whitehead, b. "Carolina," d. 1883, by whom no children.
9.       William Wesley Poulter, b. 9 Apr. 1838, Bohon, Mercer Co., Ky., d. 1 May 1880, m. 19 May 1861, Elizabeth Coble, b. 2 Aug. 1848, Guilford Co., N.C., d. 25 Sept. 1892, bur. Crown Hill cem., Indianapolis.
10.       Henry H. Poulter, b. 27 Nov. 1840, m. (1) and div. Susan Bear, b. 1850, southern Indiana, (2) 14 Feb. 1878, Mary Hedges, b. Indianapolis, d. March 1879, Indianapolis.
11.       Richard Poulter, b. 1841, d. 1842, age nine months.
12.       Marthena Poulter, b. 1843, d. a few days later.
