Hi Valerie
I have found out that Samuel is Samuel Pettit Poulter so there must be some sort of connection
I have varies spellings of the same family starts with PETTIT & that is a marriage but the grome signs PETTETIT then it has been put down on census as PETTETT or PETTTITT
All come from Cambridgeshire around Kirtling & Wood Ditton but to make things even more complicated some have gone to the name POULTER.
It seems my Gt Grandmother was a Pettit but went under the name poulter her mother is the one who married a Pettit & at first i thought he died & she married a Poulter but later he in the census he using that name then Poulter later so may be changed due to a clause in a Will or something.
My Gt Nan was Hannah born 1857 daug of Julia Jane Stigwood she had quite a few brothers which i just learning about there was a James b abt 1845 a Thomas & a Samuel Pettit Poulter b abt 1867 a butcher in Kirtling does this sound like any of yours
Regards Janice
