Hello, I just signed up to forum because I saw your question.Amedee Poulin was my GG Grandfather on my mother's side.He married Azelie Boulet (or Boulay) and his father was Louis Poulin.I have a copy of a newspaper article from the Sudbury Star, January 9, 1938 page 8 when he died.He died Jan 8.He was a Sudbury pioneer resident and lived in Chelmsford. He and Azelie hewed a farm from virgin forest. He was a well known figure with his team of black horses that he used to drive in record time.He was born in Grenville Que and spent his time in Hull, coming to Chelmsford (just outside Sudbury-mostly farming back then) in 1887.He and his wife Azelie, moved to Sudbury in 1911 where he kept a boarding house on Xavier St but after a few years, returned to Chelmsford.Azelie died at St Joseph's hospital on Wednesday May 21, 1924.She had suffered a paralytic stroke a week earlier and was only in hospital a few days when she died age 65.Amedee continued to live alone in Chelmsford.
When he died, the following children were still alive: Jerald married Leonie Hunot, Philias married Marie Primeau, Joseph married Lina Young, Ernest (my g grandfather) married Exilia Pilon, and Jean Baptiste, who married an American and they lived in Minneapolis.Pauline married Alex McKenzie and 2nd husband was Marcel Belanger.Albina married Evariste Servan.
At the time of death, his siblings: John and Emery and 3 sisters, Mrs L Belanger, Mrs A. Hill and Mrs M. Rienville, all of Sudbury, were still alive. He rested at Ducharme's Funeral Home and church service was at St Joseph's Church in Chelmsford.
Amedee was born 1850. Azelie was born 1859. Her father was Theophrase Boulay and mother was Savina Sarazin.
I do not know who Amedee's mother was yet.I'll root around the tree...Hope something I wrote is of value to you.C.
