Is thtere anyone in Yorkshire - Harrogate or Halifax areas - that might be researching the POTTERTON Family that I have information on below. I am especially interested to find out what happened to ANNE POTTERTON, daughter of Thomas, aged 13 on the 1861 Census for Belford Place, Harroagte. At this point in my own Hartley family research, I believe that Anne Potterton is/was my Great Great Grandmother and gave birth to a son in October of 1864 on Belford Place, Harrogate. I believe the son’s birth was registered under the father’s name even though Anne was unmarried at the time. My Great Grandfather’s registered birth name was ALBERT POTTERTON HARTLEY and his mother was listed as Ann Hartley, no father mentioned.
Because my research has led me to find this Potterton Family with a daughter, Anne living on Belford Place, Harrogate in 1861, I am trying to prove or disprove whether or not Anne Potterton is indeed the mother of my Great Grandfather - the coincidence seems to likely to be ignored.
On the 1881 Census, there appears to be a Grandson named Arthur Burrell living with the Thomas Potterton family on Tower Street, Harrogate and I am wondering if Anne Potterton married a man named Burrell and Arthur might be her son also??????
I would appreciate any information anyone might be able to find that would tell me where Anne Potterton went after the 1861 Census. Who did she marry???? Children????
