Your Restcome is almost certainly a descendant of Nathaniel Potter who came to Portsmouth, RI ca 1639 and signed the compact. he had tow sons, Nathaniel and Ichabod. Most of Ichabod's lines crossed Narragansett Bay and settled in Washington County, RI (where many of us Potter stick-in-the-muds still live!) and most of Nathaniel's went to the Dartmouth, MA area or to Newport. I have a Restcome in my files who bears some similarities to your Restcome but I have (from the Potter genealogies) that he married lucinda Strong and he is yoounger than your Restcome. There was another Restcome born 1737 to Nathaniel and Mary (Carr) Potter but about whom I have no further info - he would be an uncle to the other Restcome. I have no marriage , etc for him - I am wondering if he could have been a father to your Restcome. Have you looked in the RI census for 1774, 1782 and 1790? It would be interesting to see if he was in there. I have done most of my work on Ichabod's lines partly because I have 3 lines from him but also because it is easy - I just go to South Kingstown and there are dozens of his descendants. I also have a line from Nathaniel that ends fairly quickly with a Wilbore marriage but have not done a lot on the others except for those who got off course and ended up in Richmond, RI.
Please e-mail me privately if you want more of what I have on the lines to the two Restcomes I have named - I ahve a feeling that yours belongs to someone in there! Donna Potter in Rhode Island
