Jacob Potteiger Family of Rehrersburg, PA -late 1800s/early 1900s
I just found an undated newspaper item [doesn't seem to be an obituary, more like a community doings column, most likely circa 1900] that mentions the death of 70 year old Jacob W. POTTEIGER at the Rehrersburg home of his son, Ezra J. Potteiger. His funeral will be on Saturday afternoon Oct. 17 [no year stated] after his death on Sunday. His unnamed widow survived him. Who is she? Also mentioned three other children, John H.; Celese, wife of Frank Gasser; and Fayette, wife of A.L. Wagner. What year did this death occur? Who were Jacob's parents?Did he have other children?
I suspect that the Fayette mentioned is my gggrandmother and that the A.L. [which stands for ???] Wagner is her second husband. This is exciting for me because to date, I have had no clue as to whom were her parents. If this is the correct lady, then her first husband was Peter Klopp, who died in 1880 when they were in their mid-20s. [He was still alive when the 1880 census taker came to visit.] Up to now I had been clueless about what happened to her after his death; figured there might have been another marriage but this is the first hint of to whom - Yippee! Any information to confirm this Wagner marriage & the date and where they resided will be appreciated, and that she was in fact Peter Klopp's widow. Also, did the Wagner's have any children? If so, then my ggrandfather, Wilson Klopp who lived his adult life in Rehrersburg, had half-sibs that to date have been unknown to us.
Thank you for any assistance.
