Hi there, I've recently discovered Postons from Shropshire in my family tree.
I have a problem with my last definite Poston in my tree, William Poston who married a Mary. They had several children including Elisha Poston born in Chuch Stretton in 1769. Now the record of the William & Mary marriage states that William was from the parish of Wellington. Unfortunately there isn't any record of a William Poston in Wellington at that time as there is a hiatus in the records.
I've been in touch with someone else who is tracing my line and has made a connection with a William Poston (1737 Church Stretton), son of Richard Poston & Mary Baker, and he thinks that it is my William Poston. My William & Mary were married on 25th Jan 1768, which means William of Church Stretton would have been 32, which could still be him, especially if it was a second marriage. The evidence is strong however, as my William had a son called Elisha, and William 1737 had a brother with that name, so it does seem likely.
If anyone has links to this family or if anyone can confirm my William's parents I'd be extremely grateful.
