I'm trying to find anyone from this family who might have more information. I'm especially interested in Adeline/Adaline Martha Poston (see below).

Solomon Poston & Bethenia Roberts son Peter H. Poston (b. abt 1832 / d. aft 1890) married Elizabeth L. Gibson (b. 5 Feb 1841 / d. 17 Mar 1917) on 28 Nov 1867 in Sullivan Co., TN. They had the following children: Adaline Martha, Sarah, Mary Jane, Barthena "Bertha" and George A.R.

Adaline was b. 1865 (before Peter & Elizabeth's marriage). I consider it possible that she's Elizabeth's daughter from a prior relationship, though she went by the name Poston. Or that Peter & Elizabeth couldn't marry until later due to him serving in the Civil War. I'm really interested in finding Adeline's lineage, as she's the ancestor I'm following. I need to know if Peter was her step dad or birth dad.

Adaline married John Mosley/Mosby 4 Aug 1879 in Sullivan Co. They were in Washington Co. during the 1880 census with John's son Baker from a prior marriage. Family lore has it that Adaline had 3 children with him, one of which was a daughter named Mandy who died 1916-1918. I think Mandy married Washington Herrell 4 Sep 1899 in Carter Co., TN, and had children: Lizzie, Andrew, Edna, Ezra, Henry and Maggie.

I don't know if John Mosely & Adeline divorced or if he died, but on 19 Aug 1895 in Hamblen Co., Adaline married Samuel Phillips and had 10 children with him before their separation around 1915.

Adaline's sister Sarah (b. abt 1867) married Samuel's brother Young B. Phillips (b. abt 1858) on 7 aug 1891 in Hamblen Co. I believe that they had a daughter Mabel b. Feb 1894. I don't know if they divorced or if Sarah died, but in 1903 Young was remarried to Dora.

The sister Jane I believe went by Jennie and married John S. Keys (b. abt 1845) on 25 Oct 1892 in Washington Co. In the 1900 Jennie and John had a niece Mabel (b. Feb 1894) living with them. John and Jennie had children: George S., John W. and Nellie Fine.

The remaining sister Barthena "Bertha" was m. about 1902 to a Mr. Penix. In 1910 Bertha was living in Spokane, WA with her daughter Bonnie/Bessi (looked like Bonsi on the census?) and her widowed mother Elizabeth Poston. Bonnie's last name was given as Penix, even though she was b. abt 1895 (7 years before Bertha married Penix. So I'm not sure about that. I can't find any other info on Bonnie or the Penix husband, but in 1920 Bertha is married to John M. Krogh, a man who was her boarder in 1910. They were living in Union Gap, Yakima Co., WA. By 1930 John was a widow, living with his son's family in Oregon.

Their brother George M. (b. abt 1877) married Anna E. abt 1907 in NY. They lived in Buffalo where George worked on the railroad. Their children were: Margaret A., Ethel B., James and George.

If anyone has any info on any of these people, I'd love to hear it. I have a brick wall at Elizabeth Gibson and need to know if Peter Poston is really Adeline/Adaline Martha's father.

Thanks!
