Butting in is what the message boards are all about. How else will we find each other.
Names ~ well, if you will think for a minute, you will recognize also that about the only book they had to find names from was the Family Bible. So, most of the names were of Biblical origin. As for using the same names every generation, I have found in my research families that named more than one child the same name. So, especially in early England, I have found this to be so. As for there being two Johns that might be cousins. Don't be surprised if they turn out to be brothers. Stranger things, I have found.
I have always thought there was a connection to the two families because they married into the same families ~ even though one lived in Maryland and one lived in Pennsylvania ~ but ~ as I said, no one wants to listen to me. I have stopped worrying about it because I have found Postons in South Carolina as early as 1737 and my ancestors were here before the Postons left Pennsylvania, so I have turned my research elsewhere. My Postons enlisted in the South Carolina Militia early in the 1770s. So, I am trying to track from there.
