Hi, I just spent a week on researching my ancestry on-line. I'm a Posthumus living in Amsterdam. My ggrandparents, Steven Posthumus and Anna Streekstra, came from Friesland abt. 1891. So my Posthumus-family originates from Leeuwarden and earlier from Minnertsga. Because this is my gggfather: Steven Matthijs Posthumus, *Minnertsga 1793 +Leeuwarden 26-04-1869. I think his father moved from Minnertsga to Leeuwarden. And I think this Posthumus-family is older than 1811. His father should have been a Matthijs Posthumus, possibly Matthijs Karels Post(h)umus, * (assumed) Minnertsga / Barradeel approx. 1760 +Leeuwarden 29-08-1818. Common names in my family: Steven, Rudolph, Karel, Matthijs. I assume there is a `deeper' link between my Posthumus-family from Minnertsga and the Posthumus-families from Tzummarum / Barradeel and even Harlingen. After all, it's only 15 kilometres from Minnertsga to Harlingen, with Tzummarum, Sexbierum, etc. in between. Any thoughts on this? Is there anyone who has researched the wider Posthumus-branches from this area before abt. 1760? Please let me know. Thanks, Paul Posthumus Notify Administrator about this message?
