James H. D. Postell (b. 1803 SC/NC, d. 1863 GA) was the son of Francis Postell (1760-c1815) and Margaret Chastain (c1764-c1820).They moved to SC around 1800.Francis was a descendant of the French Huguenots Nicholas Postell (c1630-c1680) and Marye Brugnet (c1634-c1700).James married Artemelissa Stover around 1830.They had 14 children all born in GA:Francis (1832), William (1833-1924),Elisha (1835-1919), Sarah Caroline "Sally" (1836-1927), Thomas Kimry (1837-1926), Dennis (1839-1857), Eliza (1842), Mary (1844), Charlotte E. "Charity" (1846-1921), John H. "Black John" (1849-1914), Joseph H. G. (1850-1943), Marion (1852-1857), Nancy Elizabeth (1854-1937), and Melissa "Bugsey" (1856-1888).
William married Mary Ann Diademmma Walker in 1854.Elisha married Martha Elizabeth Lunsford (1835-1904).Sally's first husband was Allen J. Ingram.Rev. Thomas Kimry married Liza Gordon.Eliza married Lewis Ralston on 22-Dec-1859 in Lumpkin Co., GA.She was his 1st wife.His second wife was her sister Mary.Charity married John Garrett.John married Sarah E. Head.Joseph married Emaline Hula Stover on 18-Apr-1878.Nancy married George Wentworth Saine.Bugsey married Thomas Holloway.

Hutsan.Grant married Josephine Minerva Robson on 7-Aug-1890 in Union Co., GA.Margaret married Andy Satterfield.Tabitha married Jacob Esco Martin on 28-Aug-1892 in Union Co., GA.

Ambercrombie on 2-Dec-1880 in Union Co., GA.Luraina married John Nelson Christopher Columbus Wilkins on 13-Feb-1878 in Blairsville, Union Co., GA.Mary's first husband was Elisha Stover.Andrew married Sarah J. Hutsan.Grant married Josephine Minerva Robson on 7-Aug-1890 in Union Co., GA.Margaret married Andy Satterfield.Tabitha married Jacob Esco Martin on 28-Aug-1892 in Union Co., GA.John Wiley Postell was a twin to Luraine Vianna Postell.At the end of the Civil War the family was traveling with their father Elisha Postell on a retreat going from Tennessee to Georgia.The young twins were in saddle bags on a horse.It was winter time and conditions were bad.John Wiley was sick and died enroute.He was buried at the base of a tree as there was nothing else they could do at that time.The family descendants think it was on the Georgia side of Lookout Mountain but it is not known for sure and may have been on the Tennessee side.
