Richard, Just read your Post about a POST. If you have not yet found the information you ask abt. re: Stephen POST in Thomaston, Knox Co., Maine arriving there in 1781 ...I may have your answer. I have a Stephen POST who arrived in Thomaston, Knox Co., ME in 1781 with his family from Cornwallis Township, Kings County, Nova Scotia. This Stephen POST is my 3rd Great Step Grandfather, I know that sounds odd, but true. He arrived in Thomaston with his future wife, Mrs. Eunice CALKIN Hambly and their child, Zachariah who was b 27 Jan 1780 in Cornwallis, N.S. Please note that his mother, is my direct 3rd Great-grandmother, Mrs. Eunice CALKIN Hambly. So far in my research I've found that she was still married to my 3rd Great-grandfather, William HAMBLY. Seems like both my 3rd Gt's were bigamous. If any one has information abt. these two, PLEASE let us know. Eunice CALKIN Hambly & Stephen POST had 7 children: 1.(m)Zachariah;
2.(m)Stephen b 25 Feb 1781;
3.(f)Eunice b 17 Jun 1783;
4.(f)Jane b 4 Jun 1785;
5.(f)Anna b 4 Aug 1786;
6.(m)Ezekial b 13 Mar 1788 and
7.(m)Enoch b 10 Apr 1791.
My research indicates Stephen POST's father is Stephen POST b about 1719 in Saybrook, Middlesex Co., Conn. and mother is Elizabeth CLARKE b abt. 1722 in Saybrook, Middlesex Co., Conn. They had 5 children: 1.(f)Sarah b 17 Aug 1741 Saybrook, Middlesex Co., Conn.;
2.(m)Stephen b abt.1746 Saybrook, Middlesex Co., Conn.;
3.(f)Jerusha b 1749 Saybrook, Middlesex Co., Conn.;
4.(f)Nancy b 1754 Saybrook, Middlesex Co., Conn. and
5.(f) Elizabeth b abt 1760 Cornwallis, Kings County, Nova Scotia.
Richard, does any of this sound like a match? If yes I can give you the names of the children's spouses for both Stephen POST Sr. and Jr. Hope this is some help.
James "Jim" D. HAMBLY
