I am still looking for info on an Adrian Post origins. His wifes name was Margaret and she had been married before. In an old letter it states Adrians sons had a older step brother from the mothers first marriage. I believe Magaret died in MI since she was with Johnson in the 1850 census but I cannot find a record. Margaret is not in the 1860 census so I would guess she had passed away.
Adrians son were Johnson, Willam, James (my GG Grandfather), Henry and sisters Jane and Maria. Johnson and William came to Michigan in 1837 and they later went back to NY and brought their mother and sisters to MI. James came between 1837 and 1840.
Williams obit says they came from Lima, NY. The story goes Adrian bought property in Mendon, NY. I have the documents, but, when the person he bought the property from died, his family found no proof Adrian paid for the property. They took the property back, and Adrian died between 1830 and 1840. He is in the 1830 NY census.
This Post family and Adrian had to come from somewhere. Adrian was a more common name in the dutch line. I have run into nothing but dead ends. His childrens death records give little info. Only Williams obit states they came from Lima. The boys went to MI and did very well.
I believe Adrian was married before since older children are listed in the 1810 census and likely the stepson.
