I am trying to track the Poss family history. For many years we were told by Zetta (my grandmother)that an Irishman and a Cherokee Indian married and lived in Belleville, Il. We found out a few years ago that this was not true. The Indian was I believe Shoctaue (spelled wrong probably) and that her and all but one of her brothers were born in Louisiana. She had a sister named Gertrude. They then moved to Belleville, Il.
