Haliday Grantee J.Hammonds from: "Callaways", by Robert Callaway: "Henry Thomas (1777, d. 26 Aug. 1870) m. Sarah Abbott (b. 1788, d 18 Mar 1884). They were buried at Carter's Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Thomas' wife helped to organize this church. She had him moved from the old Nash cemetery where he was first buried to the church. They found him so very heavy on inspection; they found that he was petrified, solid rock. The roads were dirt and had to get extra mules to pull the wagon to Carter's Grove. Sarah is the daughter of Joseph Abbott." ___________ There is a second Henry Poss in Wilkes County in 1812 in Capt. Richard Willis' district. He is the only Poss in that district. I believe him to be Henry Thomas Poss. He is not in the 1814 or 1816 digests with the other Poss'. In 1817 this Henry pays tax in Wilkes Co., GA on 100 acres of #3 land on Long Creek. He probably marries Sarah Albert that same year. The name on the marriage document being Henry Thomas Poss. ___________ At his first appearance in the Wilkes Co., GA Tax Digest (1805) he pays tax on 100 acres of #2 land and 200 acres of #3 land on Soap Creek. In 1819, he is listed as Poss Henry Sr. and he pays tax on 200 acres of #3 land on Soap Creek in Wilkes County. In 1822, he pays tax in Wilkes Co., GA on 101 1/2 acres of #2 land and 101 1/2 acres of #3 land in Walton County 4th dist. No. 177 and 200 acres of #3 land in Wilkes Co. on Soap Creek. He does not appear in any later Wilkes Co.,GA Tax Digests. 1820 Census Wilkes Co., GA: Henry Poss 2 - 1 1 1 - - - 1 - - - 1 2 Male 0-10 (1810-1820); 1 Male 16-18 (1802-1804); 1 Male 16-25 (1795-1804) ?1?; 1 Male 26-44 (1776-1794) 1; 1 Female 16-25 (1795-1804) ___________ Last Will and Testament of Henry Poss from: Tillers, Noells and Other Relatives by Wayne D.
