I disagree. I find very little documentation in their book. Don't let the titles "Associate Professor of Education" and "Periodical Librarian" fool you. If either of them or their descendants read this, then I apoligize if they take offense to this, BUT, anyone who publishes should be willing to take legitimate criticism of their work. If a student of Professor Posey's turned in a paper that was based as much on hearsay, with no reference to original (or ANY) sources as their book is, I am sure he would have given them an "F."
Correct me if I am wrong, but for the early generations they said that they couldn't add anything to what was already known. At that point they just recited the "history," much of which they took from the various publications of James Wade Emison.
While for the most part Emison's work on the family in America is accurate, and he did list sources for most (but not all) records and conclusions, he did start a few errors which persist to this day.
See my site below for more details on some of these and other "myths" that exist among the POSEY family. If you can provide reference to original records to prove any of these "myths" please share them. To begin, can you supply reference to any record where Francis POSEY had a middle initial as you list, or any record where Francis spelled his name POSCHET?
