He has to have a relationship to Capt. John Posey who lived next to Thomas Ford (John Ford Sr and Ann Ford's father), next to George Mason, and Geo. Washington, and Daniel McCarty. Members of all those families when to Spartanburg SC including Wm Washington and lived next to each other there. But Fords, Poseys, McCartys, Masons all had family ties in Charles Co, MD. We have no concrete list of Capt. John Posey's children.
I have tracked Poseys and they become some what illusive in SC and two or more Poseys went to WNC - Buncombe/Haywood when John T. Ford Sr (a grandson to John T. Ford SR of Fairfax VA and Spartanburg SC) moved there. He was the son of Philip Ford (son of Capt. James Ford of MD) and Elizabeth Ford (Dtr of John T. Ford Sr of Fairfax/Spartanburg). The two Fords were cousins.
I am still tying to unravel the Masons, one named Ford) and the (Moses) McCarty (sometimes spelled McCarley in South Carolina who were related to Daniel McCarley in Fairfax - but probably from MD)
Any info on Posey, Mason, and McCarley families might be of assistance - I think they may have married into each other's families in SC, VA, MD and some moved together to SC, GA, NC, KY. My email is liljdonnal@aol.com.
