Sorry I couldn't offer more, but this is a case of far more mysteries than facts.

Yes, there is evidence of England, only in that the ship appears to have originated there, and I can't swear to that either. Possibly someone with far more knowledge of this can confirm the origins of his transportation to America. That seems to be the only link and only hint of where he might've come from. AARRGGHH!<g> Nothing certain that I know of.
