I have no idea if anyone has checked for living Poschets. I haven't since it isn't relative to Posey history. I'm afriad that would, to be honest about it, be a waste of time since there is no proof whatsoever of any kinship to any family anywhere named POSCHET.

To my way of thinking, reseraching the life of Francis Posey of Maryland and attempting to link him to a family from England would be the most logical step since we only know that we arrived in America on a ship that originally sailed from England.

Sorry, but on this one it isn't an issue of "most of our information" being heresay. It is an issue of all of it is heresay and outright fabracation and frankly, I don't think it's even worth bothering with. It's time for us to let go of fairy tales and start dealing with genealogical facts.

Also, don't forget that it isn't just an issue of surnames being changed in America. Surnames have been changing and evolving since we began to write them down. There's no such thing as "once named, always named"! We may eventually find that Francis Posey's ancestors are found under a variety of spellings over time. But that's not the issue right now...the next step is to prove the names of his parents and where they were from.

For what's it is worth, that is my opinion on the matter.
