The "nor-ash" you're looking for may be the village/city of NORDESTE on the northeast corner of Sao Miguel Island. The Azorean accent i heard as a child pronounced this as "nord-asht", accent on second syllable. I'm looking for the ancestors of Joao Medeiros Silva and Maria de Melo Silva, who emmigrated to Fall River from Agua Retorta, on the southeast corner of Sao Miguel in about 1911. we have many Franco relatives. If you have any info about them I'd appreciate hearing it. They lived @ 223 Davis Street and 223 Plain Street most of their lives.
