My Grandmother, Maria Pereira (Perry) (1875 - 1960) came here, along with her "five sisters" and a priest, from Sao Miguel. She married Joseph Costa, (he was already here in Quincy MA) from Pico. He had a younger brother who was in the Civil Ware here, and I believe another brother who was a court interpreter. The five sisters were dropped off with local Azorean relations from here to California! One sister, Amelia went to New Bedford, MA, sister Flora went to Arlington MA and married a Silva. She also said that she had a brother Joseph back home. I think one of the other sisters wound up in Stockton CA, but as they were all illiterate, there are no correspondences to use for clues. My father, Henry Charles Costa(1906 - 1979), was christened (Enrique, by mistake) at a church in New Bedford. I have a little more information, but not much. I know my Dad had cousins in Cambridge and Arlington, MA, and I think one operated a funeral home. One was lost at sea in WWII. Another's name was Herbert Silva. We were also related to the family of Andrew Costa, also here in Quincy, MA. Anything ring any bells?
