Maybe was not the only change... I never heard the surname Susa...
I just research http://www.genealogia.org.br/Pichurum/surnames.html
... a very complete sample of brazilian surnames, and nops...
Is highly probably that the surname was Souza or Sousa, that is a very common portuguese/brazilian surname...Try for this way...
