Ran onto your note in Porteus messages. I am a descendent of John Portis, brother of Edward, and have a notebook written by Charlotte Wright of Memphis which traces our line back to the Queen. I found a picture of the home, Violet Banks, in a newspaper office in Gloucester I believe. I could E mail it to you if you like and a little info which you probably have by now. My mother was a Portis and her father was from NC John died in Isle of Wight Co. in 1707
