Betty Bailey Porter, 84, passed away February 22, 2012, at
Baysmont in Kingsport, Sullivan Co TN.
She was born January 3, 1928, in Kingsport, graduated from
Dobyns-Bennett High School and was a member of the band.
She attended Carson-Newman College and worked at Grosset
and Dunlop, Inc.
Betty was a life time member of First Baptist Church.
Through the years she sang in the church choir, worked
with children in Sunday School and Bible School, served on
the Benevolence Committee and in the HomeBound Program.
She was preceded in death by her parents, T. H. Bailey and
Alice Love Bailey; husband, Frank B. Porter; son, Alan
Daniel Porter; sisters, Reba Bailey Kirby, Grace Bailey
Eller, and Effie Baily Lennertz; brothers, Tom S. Bailey,
Joe T. Bailey, William R. Bailey, and Donald R. Bailey.
Surviving are her daughters, Terri Porter Dinsmore, and
Trieva Porter Whitson and husband Brian; son, Frank Bond
Porter, Jr and wife Dena; four granddaughters, Sara
Michelle Dinsmore, Elizabeth Anne Dinsmore, Analee Bailey
Porter, and Isabelle Bond Porter; one great grandchild,
Taylor Madison Dinsmore.
Services will be conducted on Sunday, February 26, 2012,
at 2 p.m., in the J. Wayne Memorial Chapel of Oak Hill
Funeral Home, with Marvin Cameron and Dr. Ron Davis
officiating. Visitation will follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be
made to the First Baptist Church, 200 W. Church Circle,
Kingsport, TN 37660.
