Deacon Elijah Porter, Farmington, CT
Posted by: James Porter (ID *****1657) Date: May 29, 2009 at 23:30:06

I am looking for the parents and any possible children of Deacon Elijah Porter of Farmington, CT. He served in the American Revolution and was the first librarian of the first library in Farmington, CT. Married first to "Ame", then to Sarah (Boardman) Washburn, widow of Reverend Joseph Washburn who had been Deacon Porter's pastor of the Congregational church. Died 2 September 1845 and buried in Farmington.

I am descended from Deacon Thomas Porter, Sr. and Sarah Hart of Farmington. I had first thought Elijah to be their grandson; the son of Deacon Samuel Porter, Jr. (1691-1768) and Anna Hart (1695-1758), but this Elijah's dates don't work with those I had for Samuel and Anna's son.

Can anyone help me out?
