I don't want to lead you astray, but I think you may connect to my PORTERs of Fauquier Co., Va.
I have a Tilman PORTER b. aft 1779, son of William PORTER (Thomas Porter and Sallie Weaver) m 1/27/1779 Fauquier Co., Va. Sarah PORTER (Samuel Porter and Eva Weaver, do Tilman Weaver of Germanna Colony)
There is evidence, but not proof, that Thomas and Samuel PORTER were brothers and Eva and Sallie WEAVER were sisters.
Thomas PORTER had 3 sons present at the surrender of CORNWALLIS. Many AmRev vets received land grants in NC and then moved west to Ky and Tn or south to Ga and Al.
I can send you our family outline and/or GenRpt, but I only have the line that went west.
Since you are male with the last name of PORTER, have you considered taking the test for FamilyTreeDNA.com? My PORTER line "daughtered out" in 1815 Ky, unless I find other siblings for them.
