Porter, Murvin L.
Services for Murvin L. Porter, of Bloomington [IL], will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Stiehl Dawson Funeral Home, Nokomis, with the Rev. Jeff Bapst officiating. Burial will be in Nokomis Cemetery. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in the funeral home. Mr. Porter died at 6:23 a.m. Sunday, October 25, 1998, in St. Joseph's Hospital, Bloomington. He was 53 years old on December 7. He worked in electrical construction and was employed by L.E. Meyer Construction Company for 31 years. An Army veteran, he saw service in Korea. He was a member of the VFW in Bloomington. He was born in Oconee, a son of George and Cecilia Lewiski Porter. He married Helen Bracken on July 19, 1968. She survives. Surviving also are a son, Michael Scott Porter of Charleston, S.C.; a daughter, Lisa Kay Porter of Bloomington; brothers, Paul Porter of Nokomis, Gerald Porter of Pana, Albert Porter of Oconee, Richard Porter of Centralia, Jack Porter of Herrick; sisters, Thelma Erickson, Frances Howse, both of Lake Stevens, Wash., Rose Brown of Rosamond, Irma Shuff of Tower Hill, Ann Smith of Ramsey; and three grandchildren, Nikki, Jeffry and Jared.
