1880 in Etowah County, AL prior to the census of 1880.
By 1880, Jennie Lenora has married Pleasant Barnes Means in Etowah, AL:

Items marked in blue are found in the Bible Record of Minnie Sappington b.

Items in red are changes from one census to the next, yet are certainly the
same person.
The first record we have of the existence of Minnie Sappington is found in
her Bible Record
Minnie (nee Walker from first husband) born December 7, 1868
The second record is found:

Minie Sapington, Cousin Female, White, 12,AL Georgia TN
She is enumerated with J.S. Gowdy, self, farmer 30 KY - -
Sally Gowdy Keeping House, wife, Married, W 29 AL TN TN
Mary Gowdy daughter, F, S, W, 6, TX KY AL
(I researched the Porter descendants living in Etowah County, AL and
discovered a Porter cousin with a daughter named 'Sarah' who was 15 b. AL TN
TN (1870 US Census, Etowah, AL)I believe this is Sally Gowdy who removed
with her parents when they moved to Texas between 1870 and 1880.)
Most likely scenario is that 'Minie" was brought or taken by the Gowdy's
following the death of her mother Sarah Selena Adeline Porter in January of
1880.
Family states that Minnie Sappington (15) married G. W. Walker July 5, 1883
(Bible Record); they moved to Oklahoma where he died on June 10, 1905.
There were two female births who evidently do not survive: (Bible Record)
Addie b: Dec. 29, 1885
Jenora Addaline b: May 27, 1887
Madeline(She may not have been a daughter of Minnie's; she was b. Nov.

Note the closeness to the names of JAT and Selena Adeline Elizabeth Porter
OTHER BIRTHS
C.M. Walker..b. July 22, 1879 (who is this? He is the father of Ted Walker -
IS THIS A STEPSON?) This is Clarence.he must be a stepson because he was
born before Minnie & G.W. Walker were married. I think he was born in Texas
and lived until 1971. In the April 3, 1908 Ada Evening News article it says
"Mr. Clarence Walker of Philips is in attendance at his mother's bedside,
Mrs. Dr. White. (The other sons Wendell and M.G. (G. M. G. or E. M.G. in
Minnie's bible) are not mentioned. Clarence m: Virgie Allen May 21, 1905
W.P. Walker b. 1887 ?? I don't know who this is..
G. M. (aka Macon George, Mickey, G. M. G. or E. M.G. in Minnie's bible))
Walker b. March 10, 1891- d. 1954 Henrietta OK (SON)
W.W. (Wendell) Walker b. 1893(SON) Family lore says he went to Washington
D.C. during and/or after WWI and caught the flu..he was never heard from
again. M.G. went toWashingtonto search for him, Found no records.)
Ted Walker b. March 23, 1906. SON OF CM WALKER Ted married Ella - last name
unknown.
Madeline Walker, b. Nov. 30, 1907 d: Dec. 10, 1907
Ethel Walker b: Jan. 5, 1910**
**NOTE: This may also be "Evelyn" Walker who I believe is also a child of
Ted & Ella. I have a picture of this small blond girl (looks abt. 8 in the
pic) with my grandparents (they look to be in late 20's/early 30's)
Mrs. Minnie Walker m. Dr. J.F. White (listed as Frank in Atoka County, OK

Mrs. Minnie Walker White died April 7, 1908
Notes:
- Minnie Sappington states she was born April 1868 in her Bible Record.
-1880 Census supports that she was born in 1868 in AL to a father b.
Georgia and a mother b. TN
-1880 Census shows Minie living with a cousin. who is most likely a cousin
of Selena Adeline E. Porter's.
-Minnie Sappington gives birth to two or three daughters whose names are
combinations of Jennie Lanora or Selena Adeline E . Porter.
-Minnie's Bible Record has the marriage dates of Capt. (Dr.)J.A.T.
Sappingtons's children (only other marriage records apart from her immediate
family.)
-Ada Newspaper 1906 'Emma 'C" Lee of Center, OK, sister of Mrs. Minnie
White, visits her.Could she be the 'C' in the 1870 US census where all the
other members of the family are listed by middle names or nicknames?
-The only way for Minnie Sapington b. AL Georgia TNto know the children of
Capt. (Dr). JAT Sappington so well that she would list them in her Bible
Record and name her children combinations of the names of a daughter and
wife of JAT would be for her to have lived close to or in that household.
-There were only two Sappington families living in Al in 1860 and only one
in 1870.They were cousins of each other. The other Sappington family was
The Rev. Joshua Starr Lake Sappington and his large family.Minnie did not
record any of the names of the children in JSL Sappington's family in her
Bible Record.
-Where was she in 1870????She is not enumerated in any online census in
Alabama in 1870.
- Who is A.C.Sappington who married J. Grisate or Grisste or Guisste m. Dec.
25, 1885????
