Kelly,
I have been looking through Amherst Virginia Court Records for Lacys without success, but have found mention of Henry McDaniel and several members of the Porter family. One that interests me is from the December Court, 1773:
Henry McDaniel and Benjamin Porter, Executors of Ambrose Porter, decd., Plaintiff against James Galiword??
This day came the Parties by their attornies and the defendant now relinquishing his former plea hath not anything to say why the Pltf. should not have their execution against him. Therefore it is considered by the court that the plaintiff may have their execution against the said defendant for #110.0.0 for debt, also one hundred and eighty seven pounds of tobacco and 15 shillings or 150 pounds of tobacco and one shilling and three pence for costs, which may by rule of court be discharged by the payment of fifty five pounds with legal interest therein from the 25th day of December 1771till paid and the said costs according to force form and effectof the money aforesaid, and also for their costs expended ?? out and presenting this his Majesty's Writ of SureFacias.
Also found where Henry McDaniel was the grantee on 15 August 1764 of 142 Acres on a branch of Harris's creek on the south side of the Tobacco Row Mountain in Amherst County, VA.
I know that Ambrose's will was supposed to have been filed in PITTSYLVANIA CO VA, but have you ever looked in Amherst for Henry?Carolyn
