James Porter was born 7 May 1764 in Ireland. He died 27 Sept 1825 in Richland County, Ohio.He married Arey Barnes ca 1789.Arey was born 7 April 1771 in Pennsylvania or Maryland.She died 8 Jan 1847/49 in Richland County, Ohio.
They had the following children:
1. Mary Porter born 29 August 1790 in Pennsylvania. I have nothing further.
2. Elizabeth Porter born 3 May 1793 in Pennsylvania. I have nothing further.
3. Samuel Porter born 11 October 1795 in Pennsylvania. I have nothing further.
4. William Porter born 25 December 1798 in Pennsylvania. He went to Richland County, Ohio with his parents in 1813. He married Margaret Ferguson on 25 Mar 1824 in Richland County, Ohio. Margaret was born in 1805 in Ohio.Their children were:
i. Lucinda Porter born 1828 in Richland County, Ohio.
She married James W. Hagerman 3 December 1846 in Williams Co., Ohio. Moved to Hilldale Co. Michigan.
ii. John F. Porter, born Nov 1831 in Richland Co. Ohio.He married Martha J. Williams 1 June 1857 in Williams Co., Ohio. Moved to Hillsdale Co., Michigan, then to Red Willow Co. Nebraska. He died 1913 at McCook, Red Willow, Nebraska.
iii. Abraham Porter, born 1836 in Richland Co., Ohio. He married a Hannah. Moved to Williams Co., Ohio then toHillsdale Co., Michigan.
5. James Porter II, born 2 April 1801 in Pennsylvania. He died 13 Feb 1868 in Williams Co., Ohio.He married Ruth Ferguson about 1820 in Richland Co., Ohio.Ruth was born 28 Mar 1806 in Ohio or Penn. She died 9 Dec 1870 in Williams Co., Ohio.James and Ruth left Richland Co., Ohio and moved to Williams Co, Ohio in 1840.Children of James and Ruth Porter are:
i. Samuel Porter, born 22 May 1832 in Richland Co.,Ohio.He died 27 Dec 1912 in Williams Co, Ohio.Samuel married Elizabeth Dunlap, daughter of Andrew and Rachel Dunlap, on 9 Jan 1859 in Williams co. James Porter III married (2) Cynthia Jane Graves, daughter of Christian Graves and Rachel Tarissa Rhody, on 6 December, 1883 at Oberlin, Kansas.Cynthia died 14 December, 1947 at Stayton, Oregon. James and Cynthia lived at Oberlin, Kansas, and Red Willow County, Nebraska.They moved to Missoula, Montana about 1895, then to Stevensville, Montana.James and Cynthia's children were: 1. Ethel A. 6. Francis Porter, born 17 February 1804 in Pennsylvania.He married a Jane. Jane is buried in the Pittinger/Osbun/Wolford Cemetery, Weller Township, Richland County, Ohio. Francis was a shoemaker.He was living with his son, William, at the time of the 1880 Richland Co., Ohio census.Francis's brother, John, was also living with them.Francis and John both stated their father was born in Ireland and their mother was born in Maryland.Francis and Jane's children were:
