Ithink this should answer some questions.
My Mother was a Porter and our ancestor was John Porter b abt 1760 was a Loyalist in the Rev. War and when paddling up the St. John River in NB he fell and drown in fall of 1783.his widow Mary married johan Christian Fuchs then went by john Christian Fox and they lived up by Charley Lake in NB.
When Mary had John Porter's baby in spring of 1784 The sly old Fox tried to get John Porters land but was turned down by NB gov't and he made Mary give up the baby to afamily, we still have to find out what family and my Mums people up to this day haven't been able to find anything on baby John Porter Jr. but he did grow up and marrie Rhoda Dow and his my ggrandfather Jacob.
