Hi Margaret
Joseph Popplewell and family are not actually related to the Popplewell's I'm researching. They are just "accidentals" found while trawling through the Bolton Cenuses. Therefore I don't have any more information than what was in my notes.
It would seem however that Joseph and Mary Ann would have been married in Bolton and there is just the possibility that she was the Austwick daughter that I mentioned (despite the discrepancy in birth places)
It looks from the description that Joseph was not attached to a particular church and just used Bolton as a base. The children were definitely born in Bolton.
I'll keep my eyes open in any case as I always note down Popplewell information.
I'm not a Popplewell myself - The Bolton Popplewell's married into my family on two sides (same church). One brother to my Grandmother Hough's sister and another brother to my Grandfather Harker's sister.
Happy Hunting
