Looking for info on my GGGGGGrandfather John Whaley THORNTON (B: 16 NOV 1789 in New York,New York) who married Lydia POPPLETON (B:21 FEB 1788 in Bennington,Bennington Co.,Vermont).Lydia's Parents were Samuel POPPLETON (B: 25 DEC 1750 in Black River,New Jersey)of Revolutionary War fame and Caroline OSBORN (B: 2 JAN 1760 in Alford,Berkshire Co.,Mass).They all moved to Richland, Ohio togther and are buried in Jefferson Twp, Richland, Ohio. We hear of Lydia's Family, but very little on her Husband,John Whaley THORNTON. I have also found Rosannah WHALEY,who is Samuel POPPLETON's mother.Maybe Whaley is a surname in John's case too? These appear to be military families.Any info would be appreciated.
