Sept. l4, 1908 in West Liberty, Ohio. Valentine's father was Theodore Popps. Married Mary Ann Hess who was born July 18, 1834 is Oseman, Germany and died Aug. 15, 1919 in West Liberty, Ohio.
Valentine and Mary Ann had 9 children: (1)Catherine (Kate) born 1857, died 1921 married Albert Matthews; (2) Caroline born 7/11/1859 died 2/18/1920 buried in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty, Ohio married William Michael Foughty; (3) Henry B. born 1864 died 3/16/1936 married Rose Lee Crilly 1884; (4) Mary born 9/4/1865 died 9/27/1933 married Ulysses Houx; (5) Elizabeth (my great-grandmother) born 11/6/1874 in West Liberty, Ohio, died 10/14/1954 and buried in Fairview Cemetery, West Liberty, Ohio. Gr-grandma married George Wesley King. George was born 9/28/1873 in Champaign County, Ohio and died 1/31/1930 and buried in West Liberty. (6) George born 1876 and died 10/24/1942 and married Florence Brattaina; (7) Charles (no info); (8) Hattie May born 10/24/1879 and died 11/30/1957 - Hattie never married; (9) William (no info) never married.
Have more information on children and grandchildren of Valentine and Mary Ann.
I have in my possession a hand embroidered "Elizabeth" handkerchief that I carried both times I got married and also have her large wooden "secretary" cabinet that was passed down from her to her daughter, Josephine, to my mom, then to me.
