Elias or Alex Popovich or Popovics

Elias Popovics was born in (Csircs) Circ Slovakia (Aus Hung) in 1897. He emigrated to NJ through Ellis Island in 1927, leaving his wife Anna back home. He was on his way to live with his cousin Andrew (Andrej) Kocval in Clifton, NJ. I lose track of him as soon as he steps off the boat. One of the problems is the surname, which has been altered to Povich, Popovic, Popovics, Popovich, Popowicz and Popowics by different members of the family. The first name was also pronounced Alex, thus the change in spelling. Does this man ring any bells?
