Thompson poplett and Jane first settled in Floyd County, KY living there eight years, then moved to Parke County IN residing there seven years. They then moved to Tazewell county Illinois, living there a short time when they moved to Knox County and purchased a farm near Old Henderson.
After the loss of his wife Jane and two children, he moved to Peoria County sometime in the 1840s,purchasing a farm on the Mt Hawley road seven miles north of Peoria where he resided until his death. He became blind due to cataracts a few years prior to his death.
Jane Montgomery and two children, Lucinda and Henry T. died within a period of less than two months from Flux (now called dysentery) which was epidemic at the time. Jane, then four years old was given up to die at the same time. A stranger happened to stop and when informed of the deaths that had already occurred in the family and learning of the serious condition of Jane, he told the father to burn brandy and give her small doses of the residue. His advise was followed and she lived to be 93 years old and the last of the Thompson Poplett family. As she is my ancestor, I thank the stranger.
Now if you can tell my Thompson Poplett's parents and where he was born, I will be one happy person
