A grandson of John Pope was George Pope who lived in this area (Virginia around Potomac River.) (NOTE: This does not agree with several other references that show William Pope, b. 15 Aug 1662 & Mary Pope, b. 1665 was George Pope's father and mother.)

George Pope had a son, Nathan Pope, who first married Ann WILLIAMS who died while the family was living in North Carolina. Nathan then married Patience B. "Patty" AVERETT. Nathan and Patty had seven children:
John (probably Jehu), Phoebe, Joel, Nathan, Charity, Patience and Richard.

Following are land transactions in Isle of Wight Co, VA in 1744. This was land that probably was later part of Southampton Co, VA as much of the description appears to be similiar to land transactions for some of the later Pope generation in Southampton Co, VA. (See Howell Edmunds and Issac Johnson below,3D and above,3C)
19 Aug 1744 Joshua Pope to William Pope....195 acres on the southwest side of Meadow Branch adjoining Mr. William Edwards and the Nottoway Indians Land (being land Henry Pope sold to William Pope on 10 Jul 1716). Wit: Joseph Jones and Richard Kirby, Jr. Recorded 27 Aug 1744.
19 Aug 1744 Joshua Pope to Isaac Pope....100 acres adjoining Mr. William Edwards, Henry Pope and the Nottoway Indians Land (being a deed of Anthony Franco to Francis Cox 15 Dec 1716). Wit: Joseph Jones and Richard Kirby, Jr. Recorded 27 Aug 1744.
19 Aug 1744 Joshua Pope to Nathan Pope....300 acres adjoining William Barnes, Howell Edmunds and Issac Johnson (being part of 2 patents granted William Pope...one for 300 acres on 22 Sep 1713 and the other for 575 acres on on 10 Jan 1735). Wit: Joseph Jones and Richard Kirby, Jr. Recorded 27 Aug 1744.
